Helen Storey, Dissolving Dress 2008

surface pattern design e-repeats dissolving dress

Developed in collaboration with Helen Bailey, Professor Tony Ryan and Trish Belford. The ‘Dissolving Dress’ is built on synthetic polymers derived from vinyl acetate, called PVA. This material contains hydrophilic polyvinyl alcohol that dissolves on contact with water. This work is part of ‘Project Wonderland’ that blends chemistry, design and culture. The dress stands as an environmentally friendly alternative to disposable fashion. > seen at FUTURO Textiles – Ronse Belgium.
